The Work of Degas

Edgar Degas was a French artist, he was famous for his work in painting. He is known with painting dancers. His portraits are seen to be among the best in the history of art.

Early in his career, his dream was to be a history painter, which he was prepared by his training and study of art. In his early 30s he changed course, and by bringing the original methods of a history painter, he became a painter of modern life.

The Blue Dancers

This Painting is unique because it uses Triangles in the portrait, it has two of the dancers heads cut of the painting which gives it a cropped effect which makes it unique. This painting was most likely created after Photography was invented because it uses the rule of cropping and triangles.

Dance Class 1871

This is another one of Degas' paintings known as Dance Class 1871. Again it is a painting of dancers and it is held in a dance class. This painting is effective because it shows reflections in the mirror of the dancers which creates a unique side to the painting.
